Public Service

Hello Lexers. As a member of the Rockbridge Area Journalist Society, its our public duty to inform you that the school will shut down at noon today. Yes, Lexers, after much haranguing, Provost Aprille has finally softened her heart stocked up on 4 AA batteries and a travel size baby lotion and cancelled classes. This free day gift from the heavens, as well as the icy road conditions and general snowed in nature of the situation, produces quite the opportunity. You see, ladies and gentleman, the same thing happened in Montana in January 1958. Huge snow storm. We’re talking skier’s paradise here, except that no one could get out of their cabins to enjoy it. So what did they do? They stayed in, as we are advised to do today. And in October of the same year, every general hospital in Montana was so overrun with women in labor, they had to bus pregnant ladies to North and South Dakota. So while being snowed in offers a world of opportunity, ladies and gentlemen, I compel you strongly to make a visit down to the health center and grab a handful from the gift basket before hunkering down. Just as there is no use to let Mr. and Provost Aprille have all the fun, there is no use for you to have to “study abroad” next fall simply because you were snowed in. Enjoy the weekend Lexers.
